Area Zoo's

Austin Zoo (Austin, TX) - Hangin' around with our wild bunch is fun for the whole family. At Austin Zoo, both adults and kids can enjoy our Hill Country setting and experience a close-up visit with animals from around the world.  Austin Zoo serves as a sanctuary for our animal residents and visitors alike; providing an atmosphere for fun, living and learning.

Dallas Zoo (Dallas, TX)- The Dallas Zoo was founded in 1888 and currently has 95 acres of natural habitats. Key exhibits include the Lacerte Family Children's Zoo with interactive, educational exhibits for toddlers to pre-teens; the ExxonMobil Endangered Tiger Habitat with Indochinese and Sumatran tigers; and the 25-acre Wilds of Africa with the Jake L. Hamon Gorilla Conservation Research Center and Kimberly-Clark Chimpanzee Forest. The zoo participates in national Species Survival Plans for 33 species, including gorillas, tigers, chimps, lemurs, okapis and Bali mynahs and is located three miles south of downtown Dallas on Interstate-35E at the Marsalis Avenue exit.

The Dallas World Aquarium & Zoological Garden (Dallas, TX) - The aquarium portion features approximately 85,000 gallons of beautiful saltwater exhibits. A 22,000 gallon walk-through tunnel offers a panoramic view of reef life around the Continental Shelf. The Predators exhibit is filled with Green moray eels, a Mottled grouper, a Black tip  shark   and  Lionfish. Ten viewing windows present marine life from around the world -- Palau, Southern Australia, Banggai Island, Lord Howe Island, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Bahamas, Red Sea, British Columbia and Tasmania. Stingrays, endangered Green sea turtles, tiny Banggai Island cardinalfish, giant Tridacna clams and rare Leafy seadragons are only a few of the intriguing animals. The Cape of Good Hope exhibit, a 30,000 gallon outdoor habitat, is home to an entertaining colony of tropical Black-footed penguins.

Cameron Park Zoo (Waco, TX) - Cameron Zoo's award-winning natural-habitat zoo celebrates the spirit of wild animals with its free-form surroundings and progressive attitude. The lush grasses, immense ponds, and natural shelters provided for the animals create an at home feel for species from around the globe. In the Cameron Park Zoo you’ll see tortoises from the Galapagos Islands, orangutans from Indonesia, and birds from Africa. The Herpetarium takes you into a world of waterfalls and crocodiles and spiders and plants—all colorfully and thoroughly explained by educational plaques throughout the exhibit. Besides the animals in the Cameron Park Zoo, children love the play areas, where they can run across wooden bridges, frolic in a fountain to cool off from the Texas heat, crawl through a giant snake, take in the view from a tree house, and play with live animals in the contact area next to the Ranch House.

Fort Worth Zoo (Fort Worth, TX)- Visit the Fort Worth Zoo and see more than 5000 exotic and native animals in beautifully landscaped natural habitats. The Fort Worth Zoo, established in 1909, is the oldest continuous zoo site in Texas and one of the top zoos in the nation.

Frank Buck Zoo (Gainesville, TX) - Explore Frank Buck Zoo in historic Gainesville, Texas for a one of a kind family experience. 100-year old majestic pecan trees grace the 85-acre Leonard Park, home to the Frank Buck Zoo, circus themed Community Playground and Frankie Schmitz Train ride. Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch (Pilot Point, TX) - Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch is a 501(c)(3) non-profit ranch licensed and regulated by the USDA. Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch sits on 126 breathtaking acres near Lake Ray Roberts in Denton County, Texas. Fossil Rim Wildlife Center (Glen Rose, TX)- Take a leisurely drive through Africa right in the heart of Texas at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. You'll see giraffes, ostriches and zebras, to name a few, who sometimes poke their heads right in your window! Spend hours enjoying close encounters with endangered and exotic wildlife such as addax antelope, reticulated giraffe, and Grant's zebra. Oklahoma City Zoo (Oklahoma City, OK)- Established in 1904, the Oklahoma City Zoo is the oldest zoo in the Southwest. Situated on over 110 beautifully landscaped acres, the Zoo is home to nearly 2,300 animals representing over 600 different species. We are one of the nation's largest and best zoological parks and are fully accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA). Numerous picnic areas and scenic gardens provide visitors with ample opportunities to relax and savor a day with nature.

San Antonio Zoo (San Antonio, TX)- With over 3,000 animals representing 700 species, The San Antonio Zoo maintains one of the largest animal collections in the United States. Located in Brackenridge Park, the Zoo is situated at the headwaters of the San Antonio River, and is surrounded by scenic limestone cliffs. The San Antonio Zoological Gardens & Aquarium has been serving the citizens and tourists of San Antonio at its site on north St. Mary's Street in San Antonio since 1914. The Zoo is owned by the City; however, it has been operated under contract by the San Antonio Zoological Society since 1929 as an important community resource for family recreation, environmental awareness, and zoological education.

Sea World (San Antonio, TX)- SeaWorld San Antonio, the world's largest (250 acres) marine life adventure park and family entertainment showplace, presents a splashy lineup of more than 25 sensational shows, thrilling rides, animal attractions and educational experiences for all ages. It's actually four parks in one: a show park, a rides and slides park, a water park and an amazing animals park. SeaWorld San Antonio offers something for everyone.

Moody Gardens (Galveston, TX) - Moody Gardens invites guests to dive into four oceans of the world. The Texas Zoo (Victoria, TX)- Established in 1976, The Texas Zoo is young and growing. The Zoo's collection consists exclusively of animals indigenous to Texas and offers the only opportunity for many people to observe native Texas wildlife at close range. In 1984, the Texas Legislature recognized the Zoo's unique concept and contributions to wildlife conservation by proclaiming the Texas Zoo to be "The National Zoo of Texas".
